Virunga National Park in The Democratic Republic of Congo has fantastic wildlife, but dark clouds loom on the horizon. Despite the peace agreement rebel groups threaten the authorities, corruption runs rampant, and multinational companies seek to exploit oil and minerals in the area with little care for the gorillas. VIRUNGA is an exhilarating documentary full of suspense and breathtaking footage of wildlife. And in the centre of it all we find park ranger André, whose wisdom and deep, harmonious connection with the gorillas forms a stark contrast to the chaos around him.
Meet participant Melanie Gouby at the screenings September 25. and September 26.
