Oedipus Lex

MOMMY takes place in a near future in which Canada has passed a law that makes it possible for parents of troublesome children to have them directly committed to state care. It is in this world we meet single mother Diane and her charming, yet manic and at times violent son Steve. Shot in an almost quadratic aspect ratio, MOMMY is a visionary drama that vibrates with ideas and intense emotion – not to mention a film that once and for all cements Xavier Dolan’s status as one of his generation’s truly great filmmakers.
