A group of friends gather on a Havana rooftop terrace to celebrate the return of Amadeo from 16 years in exile. They reminisce about the hopes and dreams of their youth, but the memories also include disappointments, divisions, repression and surveillance for the now disillusioned middleaged crowd. RETURN TO ITHACA is based on the popular author Leonardo Padura’s novel “La novela de mi vida”. The dialogue does not pull any punches, and Cuban authorities cancelled the screening at the Havana festival in the last minute.
