Licence to Krill
In a well-functioning ecosystem krill plays an important role as an intermediary between plankton and mammals, but in the latter years the population of Antarctic krill has shrunk dramatically. A reduction in the population is cause for concern and scientists are eager to get to the bottom of why it is happening. Is commercial fishing to blame or is it simply a result of climate change? In LICENCE TO KRILL we follow a group of oceanographers, physicists and marine biologists as they study krill in extreme environments on opposite sides of Antarctica in an attempt to find out what it takes to maintain a stable population and to gain a better understanding of the complex and fragile balance of nature.
