In the Old Testament, the mountains are the domain of a monster named Behemoth. In modern-day Inner Mongolia the industry has taken the monster's place, but its effects on the surroundings still inspires terror on a biblical scale. Sheep farmers have been driven off the green pastures to make way for the mining industry and in the hospital, miners lay dying from lung-related diseases. Inspired by Dante's "Divine Comedy", director Liang Zhao combines stunning tableaus and poetry to paint an unforgettable portrait of a paradise which is rapidly becoming lost to pollution and exploitation.
