Returning to his homeland to celebrate Christmas with his family, Adam, who lives and works in the Netherlands, has a lot on his agenda. Not only has he brought money and a sonogram of his unborn child – he also has something important he needs to tell his relatives. Mixing claustrophobic and well-written character drama with burlesque and tragicomic depictions of the unemployment, alcoholism and abuse which characterize rural Poland, SILENT NIGHT is a Christmas film that is equally enjoyable at any time of the year.
