The Svalbard Global Seed Vault has become an almost mythical monument to our hope for a new spring after the climate catastrophe. The so-called Doomsday bank opened in 2008 and had its first seed withdrawal in 2015: During the Syrian civil war the International Center for Agricultural Research in the Dry Areas had to move from Aleppo to Lebanon, and in the process they lost their seed collection. Palestinian artist and filmmaker Jumana Manna unveils the complex implications of this exchange, in a documentary which is as thought-provoking as it is poetic.
