In 2013 an elderly woman is found dead in an apartment in Rotterdam. When it’s discovered that she’s been dead for ten years, the city council decides to tackle the problem of loneliness among the elderly. GOOD NEIGHBOURS follows Ada and Wilma, two volunteers who visit with old people to brighten their day and map out the extent of the issue. This warm and empathetic documentary is a testament to the power of community and informal social structures, and an important depiction of an aspect of Europe that we seldom see represented in the media.
