During the 1980s, people with tattoos were automatically classified as criminals in Indonesia, and the link between tattoos and antisocial behaviour remains strong to this day. This bias affects both the members of the punk subculture and the country’s indigenous population, who share a common enemy in the repressive state and a common cause in the fight to keep their identity. With stunningly filmed scenes from both the moshpit and the jungle, A PUNK DAYDREAM is a rebellious and respectful hybrid documentary.
