SEAHORSE is an in-depth portrait of a trans man’s quest to create his own family. The documentary follows Freddy McConnell through three years, from the decision to have a baby is made, and through nine months of pregnancy. SEAHORSE delves into the physical, psychological and practical challenges faced by Freddy, helped by his warm and caring mother Esme who stands by his side while he goes through an emotional and hormonal roller coaster. SEAHORSE is a tender and evocative exploration of gender identity, empathy, biology and love.
