On the outskirts of Minsk, a retired lieutenant-colonel who longs for the Soviet era lives with his grandson Anatol, who has abandoned his engineering degree in favour of working as a stripper. The contrasts between the pair’s lives and world views provide a glimpse into a Belarusian society marked by the spectre of the Soviet Union and a young generation oriented towards the West. STRIP AND WAR is a funny and warm documentary about generational contrasts, the yearning for independence and the loving relationship between a grandson and his grandfather.
