Abla runs a small bakery out of her home in Casablanca, where she lives with her eight-year-old daughter. One day a young woman looking for temporary work knocks on the door. She is pregnant outside of marriage and has left her village to keep her pregnancy a secret. After giving birth she will give the baby up for adoption and return to her village. Although skeptical, Abla lets her stay, and an unexpected friendship develops. Warm, charming and funny, ADAM is a tale of sorrow, shame and motherhood in a patriarchal society.
Maryam Touzani (Morocco): ADAM is her feature film debut.
