A Norwegian ethnologist, a Polish migrant worker and a doomed rural Danish community
Norwegian ethnologist Dara is busy documenting life in a rural part of Denmark which will soon be forever changed by an undersea tunnel to Germany, when she starts a relationship with a Polish migrant worker. Seamlessly mixing professional actors and scripted scenes with documentary footage, Anna Sofie Hartmann’s critically acclaimed GIRAFFE uses the figure of the migrant worker as a prism for the increasingly complex notions of identity and belonging in modern-day Europe.
