An Orwellian fable about the banality of evil and the paranoia of totalitarian regimes

Natasha and Olga work in the canteen of a secret Soviet research institute. When Natasha has an affair with a visiting French scientist, she is subjected to a brutal interrogation by the KGB. DAU. NATASHA is a part of Ilya Khrzhanovskiy’s monumental multimedia project DAU, which aims to recreate the totalitarian mindset of the Stalinist era by means of installation art, immersive theater and films which blur the line between fiction and documentary. This atmospheric study of the banality of evil is avant-garde filmmaking of the highest order.
