A topical and timeless fable from Kashmir

Inspired by the poems of the 14th century mystic Lalleshwari and a Rajasthan folk tale, THE SHEPHERDESS AND THE SEVEN SONGS is a timeless story set in the majestic mountains of Kashmir. Not happy with the role assigned to her by patriarchal society, the beautiful and mysterious Laila pits the men in her life against each other to suit her own purposes. Filled with picturesque natural vistas, sumptuously textured images and the rhythmic story beats of Indian cinema, this tale of the mythological Laila is also a parable of Kashmir itself.
