EPICENTRO is a film about Cuba’s past, present and the futures that never happened thanks to outside interventions. Interviewing ordinary Cubans about their homeland’s history, economy and culture, Academy Award-nominated filmmaker Hubert Sauper (DARWIN’S NIGHTMARE, BIFF 2005) paints a multifaceted portrait of a revolutionary nation which seems to exist in two eras at once. Featuring grainy images that underline this feeling of timelessness, this engrossing documentary captures Cuba in all its contradictory glory.
This film can be streamed on BIFF+ 13–31 October 2020. Limited amount of rentals on BIFF+.
