Join Frances McDormand on a journey through the America of the Great Recession

After losing everything in the Great Recession, Fern decides to pack up what’s left of her life and travel the highways of the American West as a modern-day nomad. Building on director Chloé Zhao’s exploration of Hollywood’s America in SONGS MY BROTHERS TAUGHT ME (2015) and THE RIDER (BIFF 2017), NOMADLAND is a road movie about freedom, the economy and the American dream. With Frances McDonald in the lead role and real-life highway nomads playing fictionalized versions of themselves, this is Zhao’s most accessible and accomplished film yet.
