A unique LGBT perspective on Chile under Augusto Pinochet

MY TENDER MATADOR is the story of handsome guerilla soldier Carlos and the aging gay man who dresses in women’s clothing and is only known as “La loca del frente”. The year is 1986, the place is Chile and Carlos' militia is planning to kill president Pinochet. Through “La loca's” unique outsider perspective, the film presents a critical view of both the dictatorship and the macho culture of the Latin American left. Starring Alfredo Castro in a remarkable performance, this is a portrait of Pinochet's Chile quite unlike any other.
