Face blindness is a condition that affects around 1% of the population. In this fascinating hybrid film, director and neuroscientist Valentin Riedl introduces us to Carlotta, who has lived a long life without being able to recognize faces. Using Carlotta’s brain and experiences as an example, Riedl explains why some people suffer from this condition and how it can affect them on a psychological and social level. LOST IN FACE is a poetic and eye-opening film about a phenomenon that is much more common than most of us realize.
LOST IN FACE is the winner of the Golden Owl Award (Gulluglen), our competition section for science and research documentaries. The film will have an extra screening Sunday 18 October.
