With unemployment on the rise all across Europe, the idea of Universal Basic Income (UBI) has in recent years gone from being considered a socialist fantasy to a possible reality. UBI means that every citizen gets an unconditional basic income, intended to give everyone an opportunity to participate in society. Finland is the first country in the Nordic region to launch a pilot project with UBI. FREE LUNCH SOCIETY examines what the consequences of this radical project could be for taxes, production and our concepts of work and pay.
